Jim Adams

James Merlin Adams James Merlin Adams Daniel Lombardi

James Merlin Adams, more commonly known to his family as Jimmy, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on January 28, 1956. Jim was full of mischief his entire life. He loved to laugh and play practical jokes on anyone, anywhere.  He lived an amazing life with no inhibitions when it came to fun.

Jim married Christine Smith at the age of 19 and they had a daughter, Jamie.  Jim and Christine later divorced, and Christine and Jamie moved to Australia. Jim was blessed when, with the help of his brother, John (Joey), he was able to reconnect with Jamie in the summer of 2015.  Jim had spent almost 38 years wondering if his daughter was happy and safe.  He was relieved to find out that she had lived a good life, and they often Skyped to stay in touch.

Jim was the youngest of three boys. Joey was two years older than Jim, and Dave was four years older.  Their mother, Bobby, passed away when Jim was two years old, leaving his father, Sheroll, to raise the three rambunctious boys alone.

Jim was preceeded in death by his mother, Jessie Roberta Adams, father Sheroll B. Adams, and brother Sheroll David Adams.  Jim is survived by his brother John (Joey) Adams and his daughter Jamie Adams.

Jim arrived at The INN Between on September 11, 2015 and was our fourth resident. Jim had a wonderful and ironic sense of humor that kept the staff and volunteers chuckling, even during stressful times. His room was very nicely decorated and he kept it clean as a whistle. He loved to stay busy, and he helped with many maintenance and housekeeping duties while his health permitted. Jim had a lot of compassion for our other residents, and he always helped them when he could. Through his hospice agency, Community Nursing Services, Jim was able to experience a "Senior Wish"  sky divinig simulation, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Click to see a video about Jim's skydiving experience.

Jim passed away peacefully in his bed on February 25, 2016, just a few weeks after his 60th birthday. One of Jim's final wishes was for The INN Between to hoist the U.S. Flag that he had hanging on his wall. The flag flew for several days and was then given to his sister in law, Peggy. Jim is loved by many and will always carry a special place in our hearts.

Please join us for a celebration of life to honor Jim Adams, on Thursday, March 10, 10:30 am, at The INN Between, 340 S. Goshen (1040 West), Salt Lake City, UT.  Lunch will be served following the ceremony.

In lieu of floweres, and to give someone else the gift of compassionate end-of-life housing, please make a donation to The INN Between at http://www.theinnbetweenslc.org/donate/donate.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there; I did not die.
