Brett Haycock

Brett Haycock

August 1, 1964 to November 4, 2021

On November 4, 2021, we lost a sweet soul. Brett passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. At the same time, we were reminded of the compassionate community that The INN Between has created for our terminally ill and medically frail homeless residents. Brett had been undergoing medical treatments for some time and his presence here at The INN was felt by all. After experiencing some complications and heading to the hospital, Brett's only wish was to come HOME to die surrounded by his dog and his INN Between family.

This is what his CNA had to say after he came home yesterday, “The look of relief on Brett's face as he was brought back to the facility for his final hours is one I won't forget. You could tell he was uncomfortable physically but mentally and spiritually he was at peace being at The INN Between." A peaceful, dignified, passing was made possible because of the community that has been built up around The INN Between.

On November 18, 2021, a small internal memorial was held in Brett's honor. His name is already forever etched in our hearts and soon to be etched forever in our memorial garden.
