Larry Williams died on September 9, 2016, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on February 4, 1963 in the state of Washington to Judith and Phillip Williams. Larry served in the Marines and suffered a head injury. After leaving the Military, Larry worked as a handyman doing odd jobs. Because Larry had lived in Oakland, California, he was an avid Raiders fan. He also liked collecting rocks.
Born addicted to heroin, Larry struggled with addiction all his life. He became involved with Alcoholics Anonymous and was able to stay sober for 9 months, something we were all very proud of. Larry expressed that he had never felt love and kindness like he had upon achieving sobriety – his heart had opened up, allowing him to view life in a new way.
After living on the streets for so long, Larry was able to spend the last 49 days of his life at The INN Between, a place he could call home. Randall Carlisle and Jennifer Bassi were two of Larry's best friends, and they gave him lots of love and support. Larry was outgoing, loved to tell stories, had a great sense of humor and was quick to say “Hello” and make a new friend with anyone he would meet. He even had a moment of TV fame when he was interviewed by Kimberly Nelson for a segment on ABC4's evening news.
A public memorial service to celebrate the life of Larry Williams will be held on Friday, September 16th at 2:00 pm, at The INN Between, 340 S. Goshen, Salt Lake City, Utah. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. Larry leaves behind a son and a daughter, whom we have not been able to locate. Please contact The INN Between at 385-743-1660 with any helpful information.
