This Christmas, we said goodbye to Daniel, who passed away at just 57 years old. Daniel spent his final months with us at The INN Between, and though he was in the hospital receiving additional care when he passed, he left this world surrounded by love and the impact of his incredible life story.
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Daniel moved to Utah with his husband for work and never left, even as life presented challenges. After five long years, he graduated from mental health court, a milestone that symbolized his resilience and determination.
Daniel’s life was marked by profound love and loss. He cherished memories of his late son Cory, who passed at just 35, and his husband of 32 years, whom he missed deeply. He found solace in sharing stories of those he loved, keeping their spirits alive through his words.
A proud Marine Corps veteran, Daniel also had a vibrant career—starting at Baskin-Robbins and later working at KFC, Safeway, and Nike stores, before starting his own janitorial business.
In his final weeks, Daniel’s roommate, also named Daniel, became a cherished friend, bringing him foods and ice cream he could enjoy. Their friendship was a bright spot in Daniel’s last days, a testament to the connections that make life meaningful.
Daniel, we honor your strength, your stories, and the love you carried with you. Rest in peace, knowing you are reunited with those you held dearest. You will be missed and forever remembered. ❤️
