Michael Leroy Short was born July 26, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Michael lost his home and came to live out the rest of his life with us at The INN Between in January of this year. Michael passed away peacefully at The INN Between March 16th, 2019.
Lovingly referred to as “Pops”, he was a friend to everyone that knew him. He had a quick smile and a great laugh. Being homeless was new to Pops and he struggled with both the loss of his own home and the recent loss of his wife Tamara Lynn. Weeks prior to his passing Pops often talked about hearing her voice and occasionally thinking he saw her sitting in his room.
Pops resided next door to a young man named Willie suffering the same diagnosis of congestive heart failure. They became close friends and you could often find the two of them wheeling each other down the hallways. They often left their doors open so they could sit and talk with everyone that walked by and with each other. Sadly, Willie followed Pops in death just 10 days later.
We will hold a celebration of life for both Pops and Willie on Tuesday April 9th at 6pm at The INN Between, 1216 E 1300 S., Salt Lake City, UT 84105. Refreshments will follow.
