Shain Shields

We honor the life and peaceful passing of Shain, who was just 54 years old. Shain’s time with us was short, but his stories and spirit left a lasting impression.

A proud Navy fighter pilot, Shain flew during the Desert Storm war until an injury ended his flying career. He often said that, if not for that injury, he’d still be in the sky. His love for flying was deep and enduring, a reflection of his courage and dedication.

Shain was a jack of all trades who could fix nearly anything. He enjoyed reading, sketching with just a ballpoint pen and paper, and staying busy with projects. He also had land near Grantsville where he raised hay, sheep, and cattle—once over 2,000 acres strong.

Family meant the world to Shain. He often spoke about his identical twin daughters, who are just seven years old and adore their dog. Talking about them always brought a smile to his face. He also shared about his siblings—a brother and sister—and expressed his deep ties to Utah, where he was living before his hospital stay.

Shain’s warmth, humor, and resilience touched those around him. He found joy in conversation, companionship, and the simple act of connecting with others.

Rest in peace, Shain. You will be dearly missed, remembered for your strength, your stories, and the love you carried for your family. 🦋
