Some partnerships feel like rocket fuel. They amplify your mission, sharpen your message, and help the people you serve be seen with honesty and dignity. That’s exactly what happened when The INN Between teamed up with DONE., a creative agency based here in Salt Lake City and beyond. Their work didn’t just create beautiful videos. It helped move hearts, inform decision-makers, and ultimately strengthen the safety net for people experiencing homelessness in medical crisis.
A Pro Bono Video with Real-World Impact
DONE. first partnered with us to create a short promotional film about The INN Between’s unique model of medical respite and end-of-life care. DONE. produced this project pro bono, centering our residents’ humanity while clearly explaining the public impact of our work.
This video became a cornerstone of our State Appropriation request. In February 2025, we shared it with Utah legislators to illustrate a simple truth: providing compassionate recuperative and hospice care for unsheltered neighbors is not only the right thing to do — it also strengthens the whole community.
The film highlighted what our partners across healthcare already see daily:
- when people have a safe place to heal, hospital readmissions drop
- unnecessary 911 calls decrease
- public systems save money while outcomes improve
- and most importantly, people regain dignity in the middle of crisis
As our data continues to show, medical respite reduces avoidable emergency use and can save communities significant costs each year.
We are proud to say that our appropriation request was successful, and this video helped make that possible.
We’re deeply grateful to DONE. for helping us communicate the value of care that is both compassionate and smart.
Storytelling That Honors the People Behind the Mission
One of the most powerful things DONE. brought to this partnership was their commitment to letting residents lead the narrative. Not as statistics. Not as a “problem to solve.” But as full human beings with history, humor, grief, resilience, and hope.
Their lens matched our mission: to be the place in between the hospital and the street, and in between life and death.
A Second Video for Casino Night — In Memory of Patti
Later, DONE created a second film for our 2025 Annual Casino Night Fundraiser — a tribute to Patti, a beloved resident whose story continues to shape us.
Patti stayed with The INN Between three separate times. She knew our home as a place of stability and care. And we knew her as someone who carried immeasurable worth — even when the world too often treated her as disposable.
Tragically, Patti passed away unsheltered. After her death, Patti’s family asked The INN Between to hold her memorial service. They shared words we’ll never forget: “It was the only time Patti had a great relationship with her family and the only time we knew she was safe and doing well.”
DONE approached this story with tenderness and truth, creating a film that honored Patti not only in how she died, but in how she lived — and in the love she found here.
That video reminded everyone in the room why we gather each year. To celebrate lives, to grieve losses, and to recommit to building a community where people have access to housing and professional medical care.
Why This Partnership Matters
Creative work can feel like a “nice extra” in nonprofit life. But DONE. showed us what happens when storytelling is treated as part of the care.
Because these videos did more than raise awareness:
- They helped secure public investment in medical respite.
- They helped donors understand the real outcomes of their generosity.
- They helped residents feel seen.
- They helped families — like Patti’s — share what safety and dignity meant to someone they loved.
Thank You, DONE.
To the team at DONE.: thank you, Parker and Michael, for believing in this mission, and for giving your talent to the people who need it most. Your work strengthened our voice at a pivotal moment and helped our community move closer to a reality where no one has to heal, or die, outside.
We are honored to partner with you.
And to everyone who supported our appropriation request, our Casino Night fundraiser, and our residents every day: this story is yours too.
Together, we are building a place where healing is possible — and dignity is never optional.
